Hello and thank you for joining me here.Today I would like to talk about having some fun on the way to Mindful being. Of course when we talk about mindfulness activities, If you are new to this, first thing comes to your mind maybe is, I have to sit on special pose and close my eyes and perhaps close the door, and keep quiet and meditate .But I do not have time for these. Here we go, this is exactly for you .Few minutes and you will explore what I want to talk about . Mindfulness activities can be both enjoyable and beneficial for overall well being. Here is some details for how to practice mindfulness daily . It is easy and fun yet practical , and everyone can try it ,alone or with the family and friends. So let’s dive into it.
Fun Mindfulness Activities
First of all. I suggest you prepare a jar or a box and keep it somewhere in your house ,you will need that during the practice.
1.Wake up and start mindfully. When you wake up in the morning , just stay a few second still on your bed. notice your body slowly moving your toes. Observe your body and feel the different parts. Move your fingers . Take a deep breath , and notice your being. Appreciate the fact of having another day . This day never been before in this universe. Send love to yourself . Start your day keeping this momentum .
2.Mindful colouring. Take a colouring book or some printed mandalas and some colours . Watch the colours mindfully , start colouring . Mix some colours , and create new one . Notice the sound of colour pencils or crayon ,and their sensation in your hand, when you fill in the shapes with colour. Observe the shapes and harmony between them. Look at your artwork with love.
(Take a small piece of paper and write your gratitude for the good feeling you experienced trough the activity, and put it into the jar you prepared before).
3.Mindful eating. Take your favorite fruit or snack or your cup of tea . Take a bit, take a sip eat mindfully, If you have read my post “mindfulness for healthier happier you” I explained how to do that. Watch what you have in your hand for example an apple. notice the colour and the shape ,smell it .then take a small bite and chew it slowly ,feel the taste ,notice the texture and juice ,observe your mouth movement. Engage your senses. Notice what you’re noticing. This experience surely is different than while a go when you have eaten the same apple ,watching TV or engaging in a mobile game or working etc etc. It has different feeling ,You actually felt the real taste of it , Being fully present in the NOW. When I personally did this practice exactly with an apple years a go , IT BLOWED MY MIND AWAY . I found how we miss a lot of blessings around us simply by not being in NOW.
(write your gratitude for the good feeling you experienced again and add it to your jar).
4.Mindful walking. Take a leisurely walk in nature ,where ever you like more. Observe the sights ,listen carefully to the sounds around you. Notice the sound of your steps, notice movements of your body, your muscles , feel ground beneath under your feet, be present. Engage your senses . Observe your feeling, of freedom.
(add another piece of gratitude note to your jar).
5.Check your posture . Every now and then remember to observe your posture, even now reading this . Are you sitting with your back straight, just a minute.do a body scan .close your eyes , and check how your body feels, is it on ease or have some tension. release that.
(Add another note to your jar)
6.Watch your breath. Notice that you are breathing ,and each breath renews your being . That is huge ,yet seems very ordinary and we take it for granted. Feel it . Count 5 breath mindfully . It’s better if you close your eyes . Feel the NOW.
(add your gratitude note to your jar)
7.Mindful dancing. Put on your favorite music, dance mindfully, Pay attention to the sensation of your body when it moves ,feel the joy of expressing yourself. feel the music’s notes moving trough you . Appreciate the good feeling you experience .(and add your gratitude to the jar).
8.Mindful movements. Participate in a Yoga or Tai chi session , Enjoy engaging your mind with the body movement ,(Yoga was my starting point years ago , and soon it became my mate).

9.Loving kindness meditation. At the end of the day, before you go to sleep, take a few slow breaths mindfully .Close your eyes and begin by sending love and good wishes to yourself, then to
your love ones, and even those you may have conflict with.
Imagine a circle of love and well wishing, encompassing everyone.
10.Engage mindfully with your favorite activity . you choose one . It can be gardening, home decorating, or what ever makes you happy.
Review and read your jar contents once a week ,Time passing you will add more and more to that .It raises the sense of happiness and well being. You’ll more notice your blessings as you are present in NOW moment and will be able to enjoy more deeply . It helps reducing stress and unnecessary tensions.
Remember in Mindfulness activities ,Is highly important not to judge yourself. If you can’t engage your mind easily , Do not get angry or disappointed . Just bring your attention back gently . You are watching you kindly , be patient with you . Love yourself as you deserve .
In conclusion ,
Embracing mindfulness activities ,offers a profound journey toward more fulfilling life and well being. Hi Ela,
Ela, your post on mindfulness activities is informative and incredibly practical! I loved the variety of activities you suggested, especially the mindful coloring and eating. It’s impressive how these simple practices can transform our daily experiences and enhance our awareness of the present moment. Your personal anecdote about mindful apple eating really resonated with me—it’s a powerful reminder of the beauty in everyday experiences we often overlook. However, I’m curious about how to maintain consistency in practicing these activities, especially on hectic days. Do you have any tips or personal strategies for integrating mindfulness into a busy schedule without feeling overwhelmed?
Your approach to mindfulness as a flexible and joyous practice rather than a rigid ritual is inspiring. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and making mindfulness more accessible.
Warm regards,
Makhsud
Hello Makhsud ,Thank you ,and I’m happy that you found it help full. Well the best way I suggest is NOT TO FORCE yourself ,It must be joy full and not other way around. when you have over hectic days just be aware that you have lots to do and It is just fine ,Do it one at the time ,step by step and then in bed time do a little mindfulness practice .breath and appreciate your awareness of your day .Another day when you have a little less to do ,practice again . By the time you will be expert and It helps you to manage your hectic days with even more concentration.
Be kind to yourself.
