  1. I found this article fascinating. as I don’t think a lot of us realize just how much our habits rule our lives. By this, I don’t mean just our eating habits. Think about it for a while and it can be scary when you consider our driving habits, work habits, personal hygiene habits, etc. Any habits that control our routine lives! Some of these are good (in fact we wouldn’t survive without some of them) while others are simply things we do because we don’t think enough! 

    And so your findings relating to our eating habits are spot on. If you manage to get just a few thousand people initially to think first and then change their approach to food, you will have taken a major step forward. Well done.

I’ve noticed seeing or smelling food makes me want to eat it—whether I had planned on it or not.  I’ve been practicing choosing my response before I’m presented with a food so I make my decisions with more intention! Recently I knew there would be pizza at an event. I prepped myself by thinking, “I will smell the pizza and it will make me want some. I will also be hungry by that time. I don’t actually want pizza today, so I’m not going to have any! I’ve got some good leftovers at home.” It worked! What would have been difficult left for the moment was easy when I planned ahead!

  3. I agree that eating habits are probably the most important factor when it comes to your health and health related issues. They say you are what you eat, and because eating is such a pleasurable thing it is difficult to control it sometimes. I think most people fall into the category of emotional eaters.

    I think the key is to develop healthy habits most of the time and occasionally you can have room to splurge.
